Observations: This trip consists of 1 train and 1 bus because, unfortunately there are no train connections from Villach to Venice during the day. This bus has good facilities and it is quite comfortable. The bus leaves from right outside the Villach station and delivers you directly to Piazzale Roma, right across from Venezia S. Lucia train station.

Practical info about this trip

There are two main airports in London: Heathrow (LHR) and Gatwick (LGW).

How to get from Heathrow to the city centre?
  • By train. Take Heathrow Express to London Paddington: the quickest, non-stop, albeit not the cheapest way. Heathrow Express departs from terminals 2, 3 and 5. If you arrive at terminal 4 take a free transfer shuttle to terminals 2 and 3. Trains depart every 15 minutes. Transfer time to the city centre from terminals 2 and 3: 15 minutes. Single Fare is 22 GBP, but discounts are available when booking in advance. For more information and booking options, see here. Take Heathrow Connect to London Paddington: train service stopping at the stations in West London. Heathrow Connect departs from terminals 2 and 3 every 30 minutes. Transfer time to the city centre: up to 50 minutes. Single fare: 10.20 GBP.
  • By London Underground. Take the Piccadilly Line (dark blue): definitely the most budget friendly way. Trains depart every couple of minutes from terminals 2, 3, 4 and 5. Transfer time: almost an hour. Single fare to Central London: 5.70 GBP
How to get from Gatwick (LGW) to the city centre?
  • By train. Take Gatwick Express to London Victoria Station. Trains depart every 15 minutes. Transfer time to the city centre is 30 minutes (a bit longer on Sundays). Single fare is 17.80. tickets can be purchased online or at the station.
The main airport in Rome is Leonardo Da Vinci Airport (better known as Fiumicino):

Travelers on intercontinental flights will arrive at / leave from this airport, situated 30 km away from the city.

How to get to the city centre from Fiumicino and back:

By bus/ private shuttle:
