Gare de Nice-Ville is the main station in Nice, located in the heart of the city. Built in 1867 in the opulent style of  Louis XIII, the building hasn’t changed much since the times it welcomed English noblemen. Now the station offers modern amenities and fast rail connections while still retaining its prewar atmosphere.
Services include a Tourist Office, Left Luggage, and Lost & Found.

Discover Nice

On foot: This city was made for walking. The iconic Promenade des Anglais was designed for English upper class visitors to stroll along the Bay of Angles and admire the beauty of the Mediterranean Sea. Other pedestrian zones include among others Cours Saleya in the vibrant heart of Old Nice, and Promenade des Artes around the Museum of Modern Art. So feel free to saunter around the city and feel like an aristocrat.

By bike: The region of Nice boasts 125 kilometers of cycle tracks, offering a wonderful opportunity to experience the  natural beauty of the French Riviera. You can rent a bike from numerous rentals in the city or use Vélo Bleu a round-the-clock, self-service bike rental with 175 stations spread across the region. All you need is a credit card.

By bus or tram: Lignes d’Azur network provides a variety of public transportation within and between 49 cities making up Métropole Nice Côte d’Azur, but unless you decide to venture outside the touristic center of Nice, you probably won’t need it. In case you do want to explore, you can plan your trip with Lignes d’Azur or download their app here.

By car: You can easily rent a car in Nice as all major companies have an office in the city. However, be aware that parking in Nice might be tricky and expensive. If you want to drive an electric car, Auto Bleu offers this possibility. Booking in advance is possible but not necessary.

By taxi: taxis can be hailed from the street, reserved by phone or taken from multiple taxi ranks. The daytime rate from the city center to the airport, a distance of around 7 km, is around 30 euro.


Best time to go
All year round! The sun in Nice shines 300 days a year.
UEFA EURO 2016: Nice is one of the hosts of this year European Football Championships taking place between June, 10 and July, 10. So if you want to avoid hordes of European soccer enthusiast, plan your visit around those dates.
